New Carbon Nanotube Energy Storage from POWERSYNC

New Product Announcement

VRLA 2 Battery Group Edited Final

POWERSYNC has announced the acquisition of a front terminal carbon nanotube VRLA/AGM battery line. Carbon nanotube is an exciting new additive to lead-acid battery chemistries that increases cycle life and allow for the battery to operate efficiently when not receiving a full charge, commonly seen in renewable energy storage applications.

What is Carbon Nanotube and What Does it do for Lead Acid Batteries?

The carbon nanotube (CNT) additive for lead acid batteries has been shown to prolong the cycle life while not requiring a full charge. This makes for a suitable lower cost alternative to most lithium batteries, which are typically used for solar and energy storage applications.

The CNT additive is made up of tiny tubes of carbon that are just a few nanometers in diameter. When added to lead acid batteries, the CNTs help to trap and release electrons, resulting in more efficient energy storage and discharge. The CNTs also improve the battery’s ability to withstand deep cycling, meaning that the battery can be discharged and recharged more times before it needs to be replaced.

In tests, batteries with the CNT additive were able to achieve significantly more cycle life than that of standard lead acid batteries.

What are the Benefits of POWERSYNC's Carbon Nanotube Battery?

Partial State of Charge (PSOC): Enhances overall battery life in an application where the batteries are not fully recharged on a regular basis.

Easy Installation: Design fits into standard indoor racking, cabinet or outdoor container systems.

Scalability: Multiple strings and or racks can be combined for additional capacity and power.

System Integration: Can be integrated with all 12V, 24V, 36V or 48V power conversion systems or rectifiers.

Other Benefits Include:

  • Extremely long float life performance allows for a superior cycling endurance
  • Sealed leak proof compact design
  • Non-hazardous cargo for ground, sea and air transport
  • Fully recyclable product

Compliance: IEC 60896 – 21/22, IEEE 1184, IEC 61056 – 1 IEC 61427 – 1/2, EN 50272 – 2, IEEE 1187 / 1188

Conclusion

Carbon nanotube technology has been a game-changer for lead acid batteries, allowing them to perform better and last longer than ever before.

POWERSYNC now offers front terminal carbon nanotube VRLA/AGM batteries, racking and turn-key integrated systems. The racking comes ready to use with cabling and bus bars to easily install 48V strings in 3, 4 or 5 shelf options.
